Vladimir
P. Torchilin, professor and chairman of the Department of
Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern's Bouvé College of Health
Sciences, has recently visited King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in
Jeddah, where he was received by Professor Adnan Zahed, KAU Vice
President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
The
meeting was attended by Dr Abdulrahman L. Al-Malki, Dean of the Faculty
of Sciences, Dr Fahad Al-Abbasi, Associate Professor Department of
Biochemistry, and Dr Ahmed Al-Abd, of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
The
visit was part of a programme aimed at attracting international
globally acclaimed and prolific academicians and researchers to the
university in the drive to make it a world class hub for research and
learning.
Professor
Torchilin has received countless honors for his innovative research in
such areas as drug delivery systems, drug targeting, cancer immunology,
and imaging agents. He holds more than 45 patents, has received upwards
of $5.5 million in grants, has published more than 300 papers, and sat
on the editorial boards of fourteen highly respected scientific
journals.
Prof Torchilin is scheduled to give lectures during the visit to share his expertise with the KAU faculty and students.
The
visit, according to Professor Zahed, was in tune with KAU's policy of
seeking to provide a high-quality education and taking advantage of the
capacity and expertise of local and foreign universities and scientists.
