As
part of a Highly-cited Researcher Programme, Vice President for
Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof Adnan Zahed, received at
his office Wednesday February 18th 2015 Professor Keith William Hipel,
of the Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo,
Canada, and Professor Marc Kilgour, of Laurier Faculty of Science,
Wilfrid Laurier University, Canada.
Prof
Hipel's research interests include Development and application of
conflict resolution and time series analysis techniques from a systems
design engineering perspective. The main application areas of these
decision technologies are water resources management, hydrology,
brownfield redevelopment, environmental engineering and sustainable
development. He also the author or co-author of 4 textbooks, 9 edited
books, 177 refereed journal papers, as well as many conference,
encyclopedia and technical report articles.
Prof
Kilgour's research interests include game theory; decision theory;
operations research and mathematical modeling; probability theory and
theory of statistics; negotiation and negotiation support; environmental
management.
The
purpose of the visit, according to Prof Alyoubi, was to discuss aspects
of mutual cooperation in scientific research in line with KAU's policy
of seeking to provide a high-quality education and taking advantage of
the capacity and expertise of other local and foreign universities and
scientists.
The meeting was attended by Dr Abdel Raheem Kinsara Dean of
the Faculty of Engineering, and Prof Abdulaziz Wazan, Vice dean of the
Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
Recruited
by the Faculty of Engineering, the visiting scientists will be involved
in lectures and and other scientific research activities.
