Minister of Education Dr Azzam Al-Dahil chair, Tuesday, this year's first senate meeting.
In attendance in the meeting were Dr Mohammed A. Al-Saleh, Secretary-General of the Higher Education Council, Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, Acting KAU President, Prof Adnan H. Zahed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof Abdullah M. Mohorji, Vice President, Prof Abdul-Fattah Mashat, Vice President for Development, Dr Ahmed H. Nagadi, Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity, Prof Abdullah O. Bafil, Vice President for Projects, in addition to other deans of deanships and faculties.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Al-Dakhil congratulated the audience on the beginning of the academic year.
He also praised the earnest efforts made by the former KAU President Prof Osama S. Tayyeb to improve the quality of education dispensed.
A number of appointments, secondments and resolutions as to establish new departments were also approved.
During his visit, Dr Al-Dahil also met with the staff of the Deanship of Information Technology, who briefed him on the IT services provided to the students. He also attended a special event to honour high-achieving staff of the Deanship.
He also met with a number of students of the Tourism Institute, whom he urged to improve their skills so as to enhance their employability after graduation.
Acting KAU President, Professor Abdurrahman Alyoubi seized the opportunity to express his deepest gratitude to Dr Al-Dakhil for chairing the senate meeting, stressing the university's commitment to improving the education process in line with the overall policies of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
