Abstract
:
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the world especially in Arabic countries. Thus our study is considered a continuing effort in treatment of such cancer. Our study concerned a comparison between the effect of hyperfractionation radiotherapy (HFRT) which is a high dose per fraction for a short term course and hypofractionation radiotherapy (HRT) which is a low dose per fraction for a long term course of treatment photon doses on breast cancer cells. The comparison is done with refereeing normal breast tissue by flowcytometric (FCM) analysis of DNA ploidy studies. Our samples were extracted from patients whom were irradiated by linear accelerator of 6 MV (Varian model) at radiology department of National Cancer Institute (NCI), Cairo University, Egypt. FCM analysis showed a low S-phase fraction (SPF) letter than 7 % in HRFT, however, it is showed a higher SPF greater than 10% in HFT. According to this concluded results, our study revealed the importance of HFRT for breast cancer patient which give a positive results in killing larger DNA cell populations.
