1.
The applicant should fulfill the following requirements:
(a)
The Teaching Assistant or the Lecturer should at least
stay two years after
being appointed before applying to start his higher education.
(b)
To prove and assume that it is impossible for him/her to
do his/her study abroad, or via the Joint Supervision Program.
(c)
Those who wish to do their studies within KAU, should
prove and assures the impossibility of studying via internal
scholarship.
(d)
The applicant should have a scientific research published
(or accepted for publishing) drawn from the Master Thesis in a
scientific journal or in a scientific conference.
(e)
To fulfill the provision of the English language i.e. 500
degrees in (TOEFL) or in any other equivalent test, 83 in
(STEP), or 5 in (IELTS).
With possibility to accept the results of the alternative
course presented by Faculty of Arts and Humanities, to be an
alternative exam for those applicants for Islamic Studies or
Arabic Language, on condition that the degree obtained is not
less than 60%.
(f)
The applicant should pass the academic preparation course
arranged by the University Education Developing Centre.

The concerned Department Council and the Faculty Board
both must give approval for reasons to let the applicant to do
the PhD. Study inside KAU, or completing his interrupted study
in KAU. The academic
department should take into consideration the following points:
(a)
The rate of PhD. holders and those who are still studying in the
concerned university should not exceed 20% of the department
members.
(b)
For the sake of variating the Intellectual schools, the
department must not concentrate on one
Saudi University, to avoid concentrating on one
intellectual school and method.
(c)
If several teaching assistants and lecturers from the same
department apply to study inside the Kingdom or inside KAU and
their number will raise the rate mentioned in (a) above, then
the acceptance should be only for the number which will raise
the percentage upto 20% as mentioned in (a).
And the priority must be for that who has one or more
published research in a scientific journal with an impact factor
or a higher.

A Committee will be established:
-
Dean of Postgraduate Studies (Head).
-
Vice Dean of the concerned Faculty for Graduate Studies and
Scientific Research (Member).

The Supervisor of Scholarship Administration (Member).
-
The Supervisor General of the Program of Graduate Studies for
Girls Students via Joint Supervision (Member).
This Committee is liable for checking
up the applications to be sure of that each applicant has
fulfilled the requirements and the restrictions mentioned in (1)
and (2). Hence to
recommend positively or negatively.
The Committee raises its recommendations upto the Vice
President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, for
final decision.
Important Note:
This mechanism and its form will be
applicative starting from 1/9/1433H. No application will be
considered after this date unless it has precisely fulfilled the
above requirements and according to the designated form.
